Tips for the Road to AR 40 | The Only Practical Tips You'll Need
A little background on me, I was a major day one Epic Seven player on release, held a pretty high ranking in masters PVP, spent a good chunk of cash on it, and eventually quit because of the pastry-laminated layers of RNG.
Like you other plebes who wanted to play the hottest gacha on the market, I turned to Genshin to be my new savior, ignoring the tears of regret at not clearing LostBelt 2 in Fate/Go, and having had my Azur Lane account deleted for no good reason.
Every Genshin-tuber worth their salt will spend every video rehashing the same 10 points that other tubers have made, so I'm not going to waste your time hitting you over the head with "uuurrr save your resources for characters you'll use!!" like yeah, you guys are smarter than that.
But almost everyone I've talked to or listened to have complained about the AR 35-40 grind, "wahhh no more content", "wahhh no more chests", this post is mostly going to be geared towards mitigating these attitudes.
Well buckle up fuckos, here's a bunch of random tips that'll make you say :O faster than a youtube thumbnail.
-Play however you want Seriously, if you want to spam your resin to get AR faster and grind it out, be my guest, but trying to min/max a new game, especially when it's not even full of content yet, leads the way to burnout. If you want to farm mobs and just slap some Hilichurl cheeks, go for it my guy, it's your account. Don't let anyone telling you you're playing the game the "wrong" way. Enjoy it!
-Save your EXP Books Have a stash of like 70-80 purple books at AR 40 so that you can level up your carry to 80 ASAP, besides that, just prioritize having one hero of each element (except maybe geo and anemo) at 50 so that you can do some spirial abyss and also activate the necessary elemental reactions for domains that you come across. If you commit to a character and level them to 70, you better be sure that you're going to use them in the future.
-At AR 35 Unlock all the Shrines I'm not telling you to collect all the oculi because Jesus Christ that made me want to tear my hair out, but at this point, you should be all caught up with your quests, and have every shrine of depths key. These little babies will give you a LOT artifact fodder, exp books, and the like. Please open them all up, they're so good.
-If you plan on spending lightly or whaling, buy the Gnostic Hymn for BP Controversial opinion, but the BP WHALE VERSION has a ton of MORA and EXP books that will help you maintain your team when you get to AR 40. Is it worth the $$$ compared to other packs? Probably not, I think Demone Kim did a breakdown of it and consensus around here is that it's not worth it. But the thing is, resources right now are so scarce, that the BP WHALE VERSION giving you said resources for simply playing the game is, IMHO, very worth it.
-Stop Pulling Seriously, if you pull a 5, stop it, you're good to go, invest your resources into that character, and build a support team around them. Having multiple 5 in the game, especially much LATER is more of a drain than your mother-in-law calling to use your guest room for Thanksgiving weekend. As a general rule of thumb, if you don't have resources to get a new character from 1-50 ascend them, and also level up some talents, don't pull, because what will you do if you get them? Spend the next however many hours grinding aforementioned materials? The resin you spent doing this could have been spent getting a shiny Thunder artifact for Fischl, who's been carrying your ass from Ar 1, but no you just needed to get Klee, who you don't even have enough Firestones and ascension materials for because you spent them all on Xiangling and Diluc. Disgusting. I spit on you.
-If you only ever Pull Spend the
Edit: Don't spend Masterless Starglitter on anything except for fates and maybe a character. My attention has been drawn to this distinction and I'm going to edit this tip now.
-Have at least One Unit of Each Element (Except Geo/Anemo) at 50 Oh did I repeat myself? Yes, because elemental reactions are the core of combat in this game. There was a video that circulated a few weeks back of a low leveled Barbara CLAPPING PYRO REGSIVINE CHEEKS because she could break his weakspot early. Why? Because pyro < hydro. If you want to sail through the AR 30-40 grind and prep your ascenion materials, you're going to need to know how to kill the worldbosses, and once you understand that it's just abusing the reactions chart, the game becomes 99% easier (1% because pulling wishes is the hardest part of the game). Just level one of hydro, electro, cryo, and pyro and thank me later. I don't include geo/anemo because anemo swirl boosts damage, and geo gives you shields, they're not super necessary to progress through the world. Although Geo is pretty important in spiral.
-Quick boss tips time! Pyro Regisvine: Slap that weak spot with a hydro character until he becomes limp, then kick him when he's down by using your strongest elemental reactions on board. Unlike those FUCKING abyss mages and the slimes, the vines aren't always affected by their element (cryo vine isn't always affected by cryo, Pyro vine isn't always affected by pyro) so you can apply overload, supercondcut, etc to them without having to worry that you're not doing damage.
Cryo Regisvine: ^ but use a pyro character to get him limp instead.
Anemo Hypostasis: Whenver you see the crystal exposed, slap it with your elemental attack, the hypostasisisses, hypostasi? Hypostasis (plural) are all affected by their element, so anemo swirls any element that hits it, meaning any elemental attack done it it will swirl and do bonus damage.
Electro Hypostasis: Same as Anemo but I recommend using a pyro hero for this because overload is DIRTY.
Geo Hypostasis: I actually have no clue how to do this one, but the above mechanics apply, if you see the crystal just hit it.
Hydro Boss: This one is kinda weird. I recommend using Electro here to do consistent DOTs to all of the adds, but no one element is better than the other. Just focus on the frogs/squirrels, you don't have to worry about taking out the cranes until you're done with the chonccy bois.
-Artifact Domains < Worldboss Spend your resin doing world bosses like the regis vines, the hypostasis-whatevers, and Wolf and Dragon trials. Don't bother with artifact domains because you're spending 20 resin now trying to get one 4* when at AR 40 they'll be dropping 4 and 5*'s out the wazoo, it's just not worth it. Focus on getting guaranteed materials (talent level ups, weapon ascension, character ascension mats) so that you'll be prepared to have your team at the next ascension whenever it becomes available to you. And if you're countering this with my first tip of playing the game however you want, then fine, you win.
-Stop and Smell the Roses Seriously it's a beautiful game, take some time to just enjoy it, there are some places I only figured out had hidden treasure because I explored. Don't just refer to the interactive map online to find all the content, it takes the magic out of t.
-Stop and Pick up all the Roses Oh yeah, and most of your characters are going to need flowers for ascensions, so remember to harness your inner flower-shop keeper and pluck everything in sight.
-Do your fucking Dailies Free hit of AR everyday? Just do them.
-It's not an MMO I spent a good few days waking up, spending my resin and doing my dailies for around 30 minutes, quitting the game, and coming back before bed to spend the rest of the resin. This is how the game is going to be for now for a lot of you, but remember, the game only released late last month. Don't try to speed run it, just take your time exploring, and learning the combat system, and it's going to feel much, much more rewarding than just blasting your character through every chest and time trial in Monstadt.
-Fuck the resin system. Not really a tip, just echoing everyone else here because WHAT KIND OF STAMINA SYSTEM IN A GODDAMN GACHA GAME DOESn'T SCALE? HOW COME I CAN ONLY RUN 3 WORLD BOSSES AT AR 1 AND 3 WORLD BOSSES AT AR 40? HOW DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE?
In summation, play how you want, take your time, and if you're going to whale, take advantage of everything the shop has to offer. Good luck fellow travelers.

Brilliant development of the modern formula Assassin's Creed - everything that could not be liked in Origins and Odyssey, here corrected.
Some amazing changes to the way the game is presented, all for the better, can't get out of the way from somewhat weightless combat, bugs and other issues.
With Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Ubisoft ventures into something incredible: Taking the Odyssey formula and reinvent it completely. Players will face a realistic and brutal world with a serious story behind it. Protagonist Eivor and the game world are thoughtfully build with a lot of love for details. An amazing experience that is presentable.
A saga for the ages, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a breathtaking journey of discovery that has a cold charm to it. It is both serious and ludicrous in equal measure, an RPG that has added more than it has removed from its core experience while delivering a game that feels familiar and completely new at the same time. Skal!
Fans of the series are going to adore Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Origins and Odyssey felt like Ubisoft trying something new, stretching out and seeing what worked, and Valhalla takes what was learned there and expands upon it. Some things, like the combat, don't feel quite there yet, still, but other elements absolutely have evolved for the better. There's a lot to love here, and not just in the frankly absurd amount of content available. The story is fantastically enjoyable, with Eivor really shining throughout (play Female for what feels the canon story!) - they are truly deserving of standing alongside the icons of this long-running series. This is a legendary tale and an addition to the franchise that is good enough for the gods.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is another success in the series.
But I also found myself making excuses for Assassin's Creed Valhalla until I couldn't any longer. It mimics the Odyssey formula but takes a step backward in almost every way. It sacrifices story for scale. It's designed to discourage stealth in favor of epic battles. It's true to the Viking experience, but it isn't true to the Assassin's Creed experience. That's why it comes off feeling like the least essential game in the whole series. Impressive in some of its accomplishments, but inessential all the same.
That being said, as far as the gameplay is concerned, this series is going nowhere interesting at this point there while there will be more, and I really implore Ubisoft to take a good, hard look at the bloat and consider whether a more streamlined approach that doesn't get in the way of the best feature (the history and narrative) would not be wiser next time around.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a combination of everything that made the series great up to this point while cementing all that it needs moving forward.
The change of direction seems to be paying off and Valhalla is forming a new basis for future titles in the series.
Valhalla is another enormous Assassin's Creed saga, lavishly designed, with its sights set on story direction over narrative choice.

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla may be an even further step away from the traditional Assassin's Creed recipe but it is still a great game. Besides the addictive combat and fantastic skill tree, I loved how it fixed the pacing issues from Odyssey. I had a purpose this time around and knew where I was going and what I was doing. The return of stealth to its origins is great, the combat keeps the same structure from the previous games and the story is up to par with its predecessors. It is a pity that the PS4 version suffers from several technical problems, but other than that, it is a mandatory game for fans of the franchise and manages to capture the Viking spirit well in their adventures.

For fans of the series it’s really entertaining. It might not set the world on fire, but you can set some virtual bits on fire yourself if you want.

Eivor's tale is an interesting story to experience and the gameplay that comes along the journey is liberating without being repetitive. With that, we recommend the game fully. It's not without its flaws. Even under the shadow of its predecessors, Valhalla is certainly a game that stands on its own.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla's vision of ninth-century England is a beautiful place to explore, populated with a great cast of characters who make up for the bland new protagonist, Eivor. Nevertheless, the tired overarching story of Templars and Assassins, and a design ethos that overstuffs the setting with side activities, add unnecessary bloat and distractions to the experience. Valhalla's a solid action-adventure game that does well to capture the turmoil of its historical era, but it's weighed down by the increasingly ponderous legacy of the series it represents.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla takes inspiration from every single one of the franchise greats. From Assassin’s Creed II’s exceptional writing and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s unlikely hero, Valhalla is both expertly written and has an unusual hero destined for greatness - one who has no real interest in the Hidden Ones, at least to start. From Assassin’s Creed Origins’ superb and intimate narrative and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s full-fledged role-playing game (RPG) mechanics, Valhalla doubles down on all facets to deliver one of the best gameplay experiences featured in any Assassin’s Creed title to date. Evior truly is a loveable protagonist that players fall in love with quickly. Their struggle is the player’s struggle, and that is the best compliment a game can ask for. However, there are so many additional aspects that make the game an even better experience: the exceptional soundtrack and sound design; World Events that do not repeat; settlement building, and so much more! Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is immensely fun and satisfying to play, and offers constant surprises that do not seem to stop or disappoint. It is, undoubtedly, the best Ubisoft has to offer at this stage in time, and will forever be regarded as one of the greats in the Assassin's Creed franchise.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a definite step up for the series, thanks to the many tweaks made to the RPG mechanics that powered the previous two entries in the series, better storytelling, great atmosphere, and meaningful side-content. Even with the tweaks, however, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is still an Assassin's Creed game at heart, so those who are not into the Ubisoft open-world game design will hardly change their opinion with the game. Everyone else will probably love every second of Eivor's adventure, especially if they are into Vikings and ancient Norse culture.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla provides a gorgeous playground to explore with excellent combat. Though the story seems unnecessarily long, it's a fun Viking tale mixed with the series' own flare and sci-fi elements.
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is a mostly solid, if somewhat unambitious, Assassin's Creed game that is dragged down by a shockingly poor PS4 release. I look forward to seeing how it runs on a PS5, but the last-gen version is hard to recommend due to the sheer amount of issues that I encountered while playing through the game. If you discount those issues, Valhalla would be a comfortable 8.0, but one can't just ignore those issues. Fans looking to continue the franchise's story should wait until Valhalla receives a series of patches or until they can pick up a next-gen version.
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla delivers a great blend of storytelling and characterization for a true Viking journey and mixes it with enjoyable gameplay that has deep combat and RPG elements. The problem is that Valhalla technically has serious problems. Bugs and glitches in this game are really annoying and effect almost every other aspect of it.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is not story that shows its clear focus from the opening chapter like the older titles, nor does it tackle the essential lore aspects as easter eggs, but it lays out its concepts here and there and it takes its time developing each of them over tens of hours of playtime in the main narrative arcs alone. It is one experience that needs to be consumed as a whole to completely appreciate its value and place within the grand universe, and it does so phenomenally well.
